How to convert energy in kilowatt-hour (kWh) to power in kilowatts (kW).

The power P in watts is equal to the energy E in joules, divided by the time period t in hours:

P_(kW) = E_(kW·h) / t_(h)

So

kilowatt = kilowatt-hour / hour

Or

kW = kW·h / h

Example

What is the power consumption when the energy consumption is 15 kilowatt-hour and for time duration of 3 hours?

P = 15 kW·h / 3 h = 5 kW
